To achieve its aim of providing accessible educational content and by that, to raise awareness of the most salient issues relative to procedural justice, evidence and AI, the JUST-AI MOOC will address the issue of procedural rights of litigants in AI liability cases in the EU and the world. Our key focus on the EU notwithstanding, the modules in the MOOC will include an analysis of the emerging AI-related caselaw worldwide, allowing us to map out and discuss the main procedural challenges (and solutions to those challenges) in the emerging court practice in countries outside Europe (namely USA, Australia, Canada, South Africa).

Effective judicial protection in indeed the field of AI is a global issue, warranting the comparison between and critical assessment of national and supranational justice and evidence systems. The

Registrants from European and Non-European countries will, upon completing the JUST-AI MOOC, receive an U.Liège University Training Certificate (12 ECTS).

The JUST-AI MOOC will include six modules:

  • Module 1 - AI: what it is and why it should be fair?
  • Module 2 - AI regulation: the intersection between rights- and risk-based approach  
  • Module 3 - AI autonomy and agency and the proof of causation in cases of algorithmic harm: conceptual challenges and regulatory solutions
  • Module 4 - Procedural AI regulation in the EU: the AI Liability Directive and Revised Product Liability through the prism of evidence and fair trial 
  • Module 5 - AI litigation around the world: emerging court trends on the evidence of harm and causation in cases involving self-learning systems
  • Module 6 - Evaluation
